22nd Annual Mariachi USA Festival: June 18, 2011

On Saturday, June 18th, 2011, the 22nd Annual MARIACHI USA Festival, the premier mariachi music festival in the United States, will once again rock the Hollywood Bowl stage. Featuring five of the top mariachi groups from the United States and Mexico, the MARIACHI USA Festival has thrilled audiences, young and old, and elevated the musical art form to a new level of entertainment. The Festival was founded and created by artist/producer, Rodri J. Rodriguez, as a way for generations to share in the musical tradition full of rich color and the sounds of beautifully crafted music.
The MARIACHI USA Festival was created in 1990 to celebrate the rich mariachi music tradition that many Mexicans take pride in and non Mexicans embrace as the happy music of the world. The nostalgia and history that explodes with each note of mariachi music brings delight and pride to many Mexicans and Mexican Americans in the United States. Today, it is enjoyed across the world and by countless ethnicities.
This year's Festival features a line-up of outstanding Mariachi groups that spend many months preparing for the Hollywood Bowl. Fans will enjoy an exciting performance featuring an all female Mariachi group, Mariachi Mujer 2000 from California. Joining them include: Mariachi Los Gallos de Mexico from Mexico City; Mariachi Los Reyes from Los Angeles; Mariachi Aztlan from Texas; and the one and only Mariachi Sol de Mexico® de Jose Hernandez, returning to the Festival after a 15 year absence and celebrating their 30th anniversary and the 20 member Ballet Folklorico. Topping off this action packed lineup is a spectacular fireworks finale that accompanies the traditional sing along of 17,000 fans singing to El Rey, Volver Volver and La Negra.
